We’ve been engineers for decades and an engineering firm for slightly less than that. But when we opened our doors in 2010, it wasn’t simply to continue the trade, it was to shake things up. To reengineer engineering, so to speak.

Apex Milestones
  • 2010: Opened our doors with offices in Fargo (ND) and Bismarck (ND). Our practice focused on transportation and water services
  • 2011: Began offering electrical and right of way services
  • 2012: Began offering survey and municipal services
  • 2013: Opened our Detroit Lakes (MN) office
  • 2014: Opened the office in Dickinson (ND), and expanded the Bismarck (ND) office to accommodate growth
  • 2016: Moved to a new office in Detroit Lakes to keep up with growth
  • 2017: Expanded the Fargo office to accommodate growth

  • The Dickinson Water Reclamation Facility earned the American Public Works Association (APWA) Large Project of the Year and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) ND Waste and Stormwater Award 
  • Water Main Replacement Projects for Moorhead Public Service recognized by the North American Society for Trenchless Technology (NASTT)
  • 55th Street Forcemain Improvements in Minot, ND recognized by NASTT for trenchless technologies
  • The Washington Avenue Reconstruction Project, Detroit Lakes, MN recognized by Aggregate and Ready Mix Association of Minnesota
  • Fargo’s 13th Avenue (38th Street to 45th Street) Reconstruction Project received the ACEC ND Transportation Award
  • The Dickinson Reuse Booster Station earned the North Dakota Society of Professional Engineers (NDSPE) Chapter 3 Project of the Year and ACEC ND Waste and Stormwater Award
Employee Accolades
  • Karla Olson received the Bedell Award for outstanding personal service in a Water Environment Federation (WEF) Member Association
  • Tim Paustian received the George Warren Fuller Award which recognizes professionals for their commitment and contribution to water related topics
  • Michael Quamme was named the Young Professional of the Year for his leadership and dedication to the water industry
  • Karla Olson and Seth Lynne were inducted into the Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers.  Induction into this society is based on a high level of service and continual overachievement in the wastewater industry
  • NDSPE Chapter 3 Outstanding Young Engineer of the Year distinction was awarded to Jennifer Malloy
